Trust & Safety
Keeping HalalRate honest
Trust is our core product. Here's exactly how we protect it.
Certification verification
Every certification badge displayed on HalalRate is manually verified by our team against the issuing body's records. We partner directly with HMC, HFA, IFANCA, JAKIM, and ESMA to verify in near real-time. No restaurant can self-award a certified badge โ it must be earned.
Review integrity
Reviews are submitted by registered users only. We use automated fraud detection to identify incentivised, coordinated, and fake reviews, supplemented by human moderation. Reviews from users who have visited the restaurant (based on location signals with consent) are marked as "Verified Visit".
Community flagging
Any user can flag a listing, review, or profile for investigation. Our moderation team acknowledges flags within 24 hours and resolves them within 72 hours. Restaurants may appeal any moderation decision through a formal process.
Data security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We are GDPR compliant. Payment processing is handled exclusively by Stripe with PCI DSS Level 1 compliance โ we never store card numbers.
Content standards
All listed restaurants must agree to our platform terms, which prohibit false halal claims, misleading imagery, and paid-for reviews. Violations result in immediate badge removal and potential delisting.
Conflict of interest policy
Paid plan tiers (Growth, Pro, Enterprise) unlock features and visibility โ they do not influence certification status, review scores, or our editorial coverage. Our newsroom operates independently.

Help us keep the platform honest for everyone.
